Singapore textile designer Theresa Lim was inspired by a dead phone battery to capture a travel moment with an embroidered scene. What started as one moment became something deeper, as she traveled through Australia, Vietnam, Europe and her home of Singapore. Instead of a phone full of photos, she ended up with 14 embroidered scenes that capture each place with a different kind of beauty. A slow beauty of each stitch that is quite far from a quick phone snap. Lim also uses her embroidery to challenge thoughts on gender norms. You can view the whole collection of embroidered scenes on her website.
